The South East Toronto Stroke Network (SETSN) is a partnership of health care organizations and service agencies within the region that provide care for stroke survivors and their families as they transition through the continuum of care. As part of the Ontario Stroke System, our goal is to:
Reduce the incidence of stroke
Improve patient care and outcomes (reduce mortality and disability)
Improve (timely) access to appropriate services
Integrate/coordinate care across the continuum
The system seeks to re-organize stroke-care delivery across the continuum of care, promoting system-change, professional education and public awareness.
The Five Warning Signs of Stroke
If you are currently experiencing the signs and symptoms of stroke, call 911 or your emergency medical number immediately. Stroke can be treated. That's why it is so important to recognize and respond to the warning signs.
Weakness - Sudden loss of strength or sudden numbness in the face, arm or leg, even if temporary.
Trouble speaking - Sudden difficulty speaking or understanding or sudden confusion, even if temporary.
Vision problems - Sudden trouble with vision, even if temporary.
Headache - Sudden severe and unusual headache.
Dizziness - Sudden loss of balance, especially with any of the above signs.
